all quiet

Relatively speaking-- Tehran's never quiet. I see now (from American online news) that there were apparently protests around parliament and Baharestan and Basijis in some places were arresting anyone wearing green, but I've been surprised to see absolutely nothing myself. I passed through Tajrish and Vanak in the early afternoon and everything was completely regular, with (most surprisingly) no police presence at all. I'd hear that Mousavi had called for protests beginning this morning at 900 but this doesn't seem have taken place, at least not in the north of the city (the Parliament, where Ahmedinejad's inauguration took place earlier today, is in south-central Tehran). That said, protests thus far have usually taken place in the late afternoon and early evening, when the weather cools off slightly and I think timed to disrupt commuter traffic. I'll be up around Vanak in a few hours, and we'll see how things look then.
